Installation/ 'running' the install.php
-
Hi Everyone. HELP!
This is totally new to me, so please bear with me!
I managed to install MAMP and WordPress on the Mac, copy all the blogs and pages over from my ‘live’ website (which was done with iWeb) and am now ready to port things over to my host server, which is with WebIntellects, managed through Parallels Plesk. (their service is first class). So, now I’m ready for a ‘naked’ install on their server. I have opened phpmyadmin on the server and created a new database and user on the specific domain (I have a shared server for a number of domains). I have copied over the files in the WP folder I downloaded and have renamed the config file and then edited it to suit.
I am a little confused still, as my simple mind can’t grasp that I have created a new database, but can’t find a folder to put all the wp-files and -folders in! (I copied the files to the ‘top-level’/httpdocs) The files are just sitting there in httpdocs, which is fine, save the redirection-thing, which some users like to suppress in their security-settings)
Now the real question…! How do I ‘run’ the install.php? Just one other thing: I named the database the same as the domain (without the .com, of course…), could that cause a conflict of some sort and would I have to set up a new database with the name WordPress, or doesn’t that matter?
Thanks, Peter
