installation problems

  • I uploaded the wordpress folder to my ftp site.
    when I try to visit the page, I get a window that wants to download the .php file I am trying to visit??

    If I click OK it downloads an index.php file.

    I am making the site for an organization and use my own domain as a staging site before it goes live. Does that make a difference??

    I’ve used Drupal a bit know how to use MAMP. Can I use MAMP with WordPress?
