I have just installed wordpress through bluehost simple script, which was very easy. I received an email congratulating me on my installation. Do I need to do any further steps to install or is this the end of the installation process? the reason I am asking is that I see no difference when I login to my wordpress blog to what it was before installation. Essentially I want to use plugins and cant seem to find a way to do that, so I wonder if its due to not completing my installation.

    Thank you

Are you sure you’re logging into your self-hosted WordPress site as opposed to your wordpress.com blog?

Hi there! I am installing WP in a local environment for development testing, and will then be uploading to separate WP installations in the hosting environment.

My question is, do the MySQL database usernames and passwords have to match? (I was not planning on using passwords in the testing environment, which is secure and controlled, and had also come up with a slightly different naming protocol.)

    Thanks!

No, just modify the wp-config.php file accordingly. You will also have to modify the site URL stored in the database file.

The passwords do not have to be same Once you are ready to upload to host you can create a database on host and edit wp-config.php file to the new database settings as they will be different as with cpanel environment database and user names start with username_
