Installation issues

Hi, I’m having trouble with activating the free version of the plugin.
After installation of “UpdraftPlus Backup and Restoration 1.11.18” I try to activate it and I get the message “Das Plugin hat keinen validen Header.” (english version: “The plugin does not have a valid header.”)
I’m using the most recent version of WP (4.4).
When I don’t activate it right after the installation and go to the plugins page, I notice that I cannot find the plugin listed on that page.
The plugin is definitely listed in the plugins directory if I look at it over ftp.
I’ve tried to install the plugin, because I recently took notice that the plugin suddenly disappeared. Before it disappeared, I’ve used it for a long time in order to create daily backups.
BTW, I’ve made Malware scans with both, “exploit-scanner” and “sucuri-scanner” to make sure that there’s no security issues interfering here.
Do you have a hint?
