Hello, I am trying to install plugins in Child sites via MainWP Dashboard by uploading zip files and getting Installation failed (unauthorized) message all the time. I need to change some setting or what can be wrong? Didn’t find anything in your Documentation.

Already sent you a ticket (#35108) but still no answer.

A also try to log in to install and activate extensions using my MainWP account data but getting: Error: code 503.

The error 401 (Unauthorized) happens when some security rule on the Dashboard site blocks requests from MainWP Child plugin. In most cases this is the HTTP Basic Auth or some custom .htaccess security rule. In some cases, security plugins on the MainWP Dashboard site can cause this.

Since you submitted the helpdesk ticket we will continue from there.

Hi, reading this thread I was wondering if then MainWP dashboard cannot run in a setup where it is protected by HTTP Basic Auth or am I misunderstanding this?

I landed here after an Google Search regarding to this Error.

I agree to @lucspe, it is definitly not possible to install Plugins when the MainWP Site is secured with htpasswd.

After removing this, anything is working. Not the best solution when we think about security. Maybe the devs can think about it.
