    hello,

    each time i try to install or update an extension, i have the same error message: “installation failed – download failed – unauthorized”.

    i have searched the forum and have already changed all permissions to 755 for all folders and 644 for all files.

    and this does not concern ‘pro’ plugins with licences but any plugin (even ‘dolly’, that i use for testing…).

    the strange point is that though the message is displayed, most of times the installion or update has been done !

    but sometimes it does not, and even might lead to the death white screen – and you’ll agree that this is quite a problem.

    so help will be much appreciated !

  • Hi, that does sound like bad problem ??

    Does it still happen if you temporarily disable all plugins, and switch to one of the Twenty* themes?

    If not, them try re-activating the plugins one-by-one until the problem re-appears. Once you’ve found the conflicting plugin, you can contact it’s author for support.

    hello iann,

    thanks for the idea, you are right it’s a classic way of testing and i’m going to try – but these days i’m overloaded with work and this is not a priority as the site works (as long as i do not make updates…).
    i’ll comme back in a few days with the results.

    hello iann,

    just to let you know that i finally found time to test deeply this classic solution, and bingo, an extension seems to be causing the trouble… when deactivated i do not have the message anymore.

    weirdly, it’s an extension that i use on dozens of site, a simple one that translate divi (the quite famous theme) into understandable french (my spoken language, pardon my english).

    i contacted the owner, and now wait for a better solution.
