• I have downloaded 2.x and 3.5 to my desktop. I did make a folder in my website at https://www.lowerphotography.com but can’t get WordPress installed in it. I also have read and reread “Famous 5-minute install” to no avail. 1)says to upload everthing but to where? In my website Blog folder or where. 2) wp-admin/install.php so can’t set up wp-config.php from browser. Went to NotePad and did it that way but where do I upload it to. 3) It appears that the web provider I use does have WordPress in it so I have tried to load 2.7 from there and did get the message when going in as administrator “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” this is 2.01 release 21. I see nothing in my website to indicate WordPress is installed so I can’t upload anything to it like upgrade 3.5. I am confused as you can see.

  • After downloading the WP zip file you need to unzip and then upload (via FTP) all the files to either the root directory on your web server or an alternative folder if you prefer (such as /blog).

Then you follow the 5 minute install instructions.

Note: It’s important not to confuse manual install/5 minute install with the “1 click install” that many web hosts offer. You either ftp the files to the server manually and follow the 5 minute install guide or use your hosts install system but follow their instructions. The two are not inter-changable.

I have created an account. I can not figure out how to move forward from there. I am unable to find a support e mail address to ask for help.
I have a URL to point to this new site but can’t create it.
