    Hi all,

I need help at a very basic level, it’s becoming very frustration. This is the first time I’ve used the wordpress software and the domain name and host package is brand new. I’m working on a Mac OS 10.6.5 – Safari.

I’ve download the latest version of wordpress (3.0.4), and uploaded it to my site using the latest version of filezilla and nothing is showing up. I’m still getting the welcome page from the host provider. I thought I’d give it 24 hours and see what popped but, still nothing.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

  • As per the description, it seems that you have not uploaded the installation files to correct folder/directory.

We suggest you to contact your hosting provider and ask them about the directory of your domain. If it is public_html then you will have to upload the files to public_html folder itself.

    Thanks Louis.

Currently the software is uploaded to the public_html folder. What’s the other option?

you have to delete the host’s index.html to let wordpress’ index.php work

Genius Samuel – Now we’re getting somewhere.

    Many, many thanks.

I am not sure whether you are installing the wordpress to your main domain or addon domain. If it is your main domain then you will have to upload the files to public_html folder and also check whether the is only one index file that you have uploaded that is index.php. There should not be any other index file like index.html

If you still face the same problem then wait for somebody to assist you as I am also not sure what exactly you did with installation..
