• I read most of the previous support discussions but I can’t find a clue. My problem is that I can not access the installation page of wordpress.I created a subfolder called (blog) in which I uploaded the WP files, I configured the w-configure.php file, and I get this error message all the time:
    Not Found

The requested URL /blog/wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Can you view the contents of /blog/wp-admin/css/about.css in your browser?

If not, can you confirm that the wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes folders actually exist under the /blog/ folder?

Sorry if this sounds obvious. I just want to make sure we get some basics out of the way.

A link to your site would be helpful.

    @marios: I get the same 404 error message when I acess /blog/wp-admin/css/about.css
And sure, all wordpress files exist under the /blog/ folder.

The html version was already developed by someone else and the client wants me to create a new test version using wordpress.

@win Win My next thought is that there’s an entry in the htaccess file that is preventing access to anything matching /blog/. I’ve seen this on occasion where an entry in the htaccess was added for security purposes, but it ended up blocking too much.

There is` no htacess file :/

@win Win Are you able to check the file permissions of the blog folder with an FTP program? In case you haven’t dealt with permissions before, they’re often reported as a number such as 644. With the program I use, I right-click on a file/folder and select file permissions.

If you can the permissions for the blog folder, compare them to the permissions for one of your other folders at the root such as /js/ or /css/.

    Just a query…
    You wrote…

…what is the path to this directory (subfolder)? (i.e. public_html/your_site/blog/)

@mario: All folders permissions are set to 705, and all files permissions are set to 604. This is the same case too for the folders and files within the blog directory (of wordpress).

@neotechnomad: The /blog/ folder is just within the main root. Here a screenshot to make it clear.

    This is what baffles me…

When a new directory is created, it should be seen immediately, such as… through Filezilla, I created directory “zzzz” and immediately went to my main site and entered /zzzz behind my site address and saw:

    Index of /zzzz

    Parent Directory

When I do the same for your site – https://euromedexperts.net/blog/ – I get a 404, even though your screenshot shows the directory there…

    Not Found

The requested URL /blog/ was not found on this server.

Any directory created should be seen immediately.
Perhaps contact your host and ask why this directory does not show.

find out install.php is present wp-admin folder or not, if not upload same file on this location by taking some existing wordpress installation.

    (@aminericher)

@himel2014: Yes install.php is present in wp-admin folder

Type only your site url /blog
