• I’m trying to install wordpress on windows hosting but after uploading all the files I see this error:

    500 – Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

I’ve installed wordpress on linux hosting many times but this is the first time I’ve ever tried to install wordpress on windows hosting…

How can I solve this problem? Can anyone please help?

    Thanks in advance

  • I’ve always had better experiences with linux hosting, but you could try the following:

    • Re-install just to eliminate that as an option
    • Deactivate all plugins (if you’ve installed any) by renaming your plugins folder
    • Switch to the default theme (again if you’ve changed to a different theme) by renaming your themes folder

If that doesn’t help I’d call your webhost.

micahcooksey you didn’t understand me. WordPress isn’t installed yet so how should I Re-install it or Deactivate all plugins?..

You should re-install (or re-upload if you want to call it that) just in case something went awry when you uploaded the files. Are you sure you did everything correctly? If you’re sure everything is right, I’d still say at least try contacting your web host as they have access to information that we don’t.
