Install with no domain name?

  • Hello,

    I am attempting to set up word press on an account that I am not ready to transfer the domain name over to yet. I was hoping to wait until the new site was complete before doing so.

    I am able to get word press to install just fine, but there definitely appears to be some pathing issues. Example: If I go to https://www.site.com/~newsite/blog It appears that at the very least the CSS is not working. I am unable to log into the admin area also. When I path to the similar url above, it will auto kick me to a https://www.newsite.com/blog/wp-admin etc..

    Is there a place I can edit a value, so it does not do this currently? And or is this a requirement?

    The two URI values need to be real. If they’re pointing at a non-existent DNS name, things fail. Perhaps change them to IP address instead?

    Since things are already boogered up, you might try this tutorial to manually reset them and allow you back into the admin area:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/
