install went fine until the upgrade- can’t login

    I installed wordpress this morning and it went just fine. Installed Automatic Upgrade before anything else was done and all went fine as I upgraded to 2.6.1. After the upgrade I can’t log in, it keeps taking me back to the login page. This is my third install, but the first time I ever installed in front of an existing site. I thought maybe the index.html and index.php might be an issue because of AddHandler to read php as html so I removed the existing index.html and left only the index.php. That didn’t help so I put the old index page back up. I am getting the following server errors but cannot access the error logs:

    when I try to access error logs.

    I have removed the canonicalization redirects from the htaccess file in case that was the problem, now I don’t know what else to try. My site is showing fine, as iff I had never installed WordPress, but that’s not what I was trying to do.
    Any ideas?

    I went to MyPhpAdmin and changed the siteurl and home to add in www. Now I can log in but when I view the “theme” it is my same old index.html. I’m going to leave it alone until I can figure out what’s next. I will still need to put back the canonicalization rewrite so it looks to me like I need to put back the index.php which will be read as index.html. I wish I could find more information about installing WordPress on an existing site that isn’t going into a new directory.

    Resolved via uninstall.
