    Hi

I want to install a duplicator package to a subfolder in my root folder of my site, as i have a secondary site in that folder that i want to update with my local version.

So, how to do this? Duplicator says that the pacakge and installer files must be in the root directory of the server. When I do this, i launch it and its okay to introduce the database info, then I need to clear the wp-config of the root site , but I dont want to install it on the root site but on the sub folder .

What happens if i just rename the root site’s wp.config to a backup name ? Does the site get installed on the root site ?

I dont want this, i want it to be installed on the sub folder.

    Best regards

  • Hey Rpuig,

You should be able to install it in sub-folder without issues. The installer and archive.zip file do not need to be placed in your root folder. They can be placed in any empty directory it just needs permission for PHP to write to that directory. Are you running into issues when installing in a sub-directory?

Ok thanks for your answer. No, it works now. I don’t know what i was doing wrong before. I supposer I was using the wrong url, because I got a “Not root directory error”.

I can’t really determine what my steps where before ( sic )

No Problem… Glad you got it going!
