install on home computer with xampp for testing,learning

    I was wondering and new to this. Before I use wordpress on a paid hosting platform am I able to use xampp on my own computer with local host and install wordpress to play around with it until I get used to it or see if I am able to work with it.
    If so is there any thing that I should watch out for that can be tricky.

    Hi Tracy,
    You can definitely use a local host for WordPress. I’m a newbie and did it as well (using Wampserver).

    Thanx a million Kevin, this was very helpful. I actually tried installing it like I did for Joomla, but that is not the way it works. I will try to do this at home tonight.

    I use xampp for local test installs of WP all the time. It works fine.
