install not working, no admin login

    Hello all,
    I have Domain with hostgator, hosting with 1and1, wordpress installed can access by FTP, but install does not work.
    the website is https://www.eastgrinsteadweb.com
    I have edited the wp-config.php file,
    When browsing the site the 1and1 landing page is displayed so the DNS is correct. briefly before the landing page error 404 was shown.
    Wordpress was a fresh install

  • Are you sure you put your files in the root directory?

    I ask because when I stick /index.php on the end of your domain I get:

    “The document name you requested (/index.php) could not be found on this server. However, we found documents with names similar to the one you requested. Available documents: /index.html (common basename)”

    If WordPress is installed there should be an index.php file.

    Sometimes it’s easier to delete everything and start over, step by step, than find the problem.

    I have changed install folder from my root hosting to /eastgrinsteadweb/ and added a fresh wordpress install in there, but still the same issue?
