• Lots of posts about removing the “blog/” from the admin blog.
But I’d like to have new sites installed under a blog/ structure, such as example.com/blog/[blog name]
(I’m reserving example.com/[blog name] for Buddypress user profiles)

Ideally, I’d like to configure things to match a non-WP site I set up, where each user automatically has a blog set up on registration, located at example.com/[user name]/blog
    But
    1) I suspect auto-create a blog is a bit complex
    2) I can handle old URLs with some mod_rewrite magic

So any way to set up new blogs in a subdirectory, such as example.com/blog/[blog name] ? Any way to add a prefix (or suffix) to the blogs?

  • You’d have to install it in a directory called /blog/, but then you’d need another one at the root.

Also, when they sign up if they check the right box – BOOM they get a blog. ??

    Works just like wordpress.com remember.

Not exactly the solution I’m looking for. Any other suggestions?

    Hmm.

You could manually go in and rename the path under Site Info to /blog/foobar but that’s the only thing I can think of….

If that’s how you want the Buddypress URLs…. then it has to be in the root.

    Actually, BP profiles are example.com/members/membername.
