• I’m running a football pool for a large group and I’d like to use some of extensions like pagination, search, and others. Unfortunately, this is a multi-site instance of WordPress and apparently in this environment it doesn’t work to simply upload the file to wp-content/plugins. It’s also not possible to zip the php file and use the plugin upload function in WP admin.

I realize that it might be hard to provide a solution without knowing the details of the multi-site setup but maybe somebody has had to deal with this before and found a solution I could try.

    Thanks for the help.

I don’t have any experience with multi-site, but found this article:
    https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/why-do-you-not-see-all-plugins-on-wordpress-multisite-installs/

Maybe that explains what to do (install in network admin, but activate only in the one site where you want it).

I think the problem is that the plugin extensions can’t be installed like a regular plugin. They are PHP files that need to be uploaded and apparently it’s hard to find the right location in a multi-site instance.

According to the person in charge of the WordPress instance in our company, it’s also not secure to just zip the PHP file and install via the WordPress installer.

So I guess I’m stuck here – thanks for your help!

Actually I have this plugin in a multi-site instance, it’s really no difference than using it as a single site of WordPress. Go to your File Manager in your server and upload the php files on wp-content -> plugins folder, or you can do it as well by FTP.

Wordpress will recognize this php files as plugins, so you just have to go on your plugins section on your multi-site intance and activate the ones you need.

Hope it works for you =)
