install doesn't happen

In my browser using the command https://www.sitename.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php I just get a message saying the page can’t be found or load etc. and nothing happens. I recall I had a problem the first time I loaded wordpress but I can’t recall what the trick was. I’ve tried both IE and Firefox. I’m trying to load 3.
