Install a fresh copy of WordPress

  • Hi,

    I have taken onto a project where I need to re-install a fresh copy of WordPress (the files have been changed/altered and the whole thing is messed up) and apply the theme I have been developed locally on my computer.

    Can I just wipe out the wordpress version there is on the server and upload a fresh one with obviosuly making sure to update the config.php file with the right details?

    I forgot to mention that I need to make sure that the data gets carried across but I think wiping out the current wordpress version and install a new one (with the right database details) should be okay?

    only if the previous one is the same version. that’s because there might have been database changes between versions.
