• Hello,

I tried the first time this year to post with version 1.5.0 of the plugin to Instagram and get this error message in a plain browser window:

Something went wrong while connecting to instagram: InstagramAPI\Response\LoginResponse: Challenge required.

When I logged in to Instagram manually I was asked if it was me that has connected to Instagram (in reality it was my web server hosted by 1&1 in Karlsruhe), but I confirmed with Yes. Also I got a security code from Instagram by mail to confirm that it’s me (what I did).
Next I tried again to actualize my blog article and posting to Instagram, same error. Again and again.

I’m in this loop since days and tried many a time, but Instagram isn’t learning that it’s okay when my hosting server posts to Instagram. What can I do?

    Hi Steffen

The error that you have is related to Instagram security process, you faced an issue when login to instagram from two different IP adresses.
It means that Instagram wants to know if you are a human or a robot, and they want you to proove that you are the actual owner of the instagram account that you use.
Please try the tips from this website to solve it : https://instazood.com/how-to-fix-checkpoint-required-error-on-instagram/

Sorry, I tried both tips: I hit about 30 times the button ‘Yes, it was me’ in the last days and got codes via e-mail or SMS and also deactivated my Instagram account yesterday and activated it just a few minutes ago. Nothing helps.

What sure could help is to accept the instagram question with the web server IP (start Instagram with a browser on the web server), but unfortunately I have no GUI or a shell on the web server (only FTP). So I cannot make Instagram learn to accept the web server’s IP.

I don’t know what to do else. Also I found no other tips with Google. It seems that I cannot use the plugin longer. ??

What I ask myself is why do other user not have this problem with their web servers? Is it possible that Instagram has banned the IP adresses of 1&1 / Ionos from Karlsruhe in Germany?

    Hi Steffen
That is a question that only support people working at instagram company can answer.

Hi. I am getting the same message since 1.5.3 I was able to solve in earlier version. But I has detected that time that Instagram reports during access is not correct for 9 hours less. I have checked my wordpress time and it is correct (I hace no information of the server itself). Could this time shifting the cause of the challenge?

I have poke at the plugin code, but I have not been able to find the moment the time and date is generated (if it is done).

    Thanks and regards

    Hello mada0068

The plugin does not generate any time at all.

The web server were your wordpress site is hosted is in cause, this is where the time of the request to post to Instagram is generated.

Please check on your wordpress your TimeZone

Thanks for your reply. In fact, I have checked my time zone, and everything is OK. I will wait for some days, and keep checking the challenge

I guess waiting and trying again will not help. It didn’t help for me.
I have the same time discrepancy. I posted with German time 11:49 pm, but Instagram shows me the time 2:49 pm when trying to login (challenge required). I guess, the Instagram server is in USA and the time there is 2:49 pm?! Perhaps this difference of 9 hours is the reason that causes Instagram to block the posting?
    Anyway, this doesn’t help me…

@mada0068 Did you find a working solution for you? I just tried again, but same problem as every time. The Instagram algorithm seems not to learn as somewhere was written. I’m going to deactivate the plugin and have to post manually to Instagram in future… :-/

@stevie77, this issue happened because this plugin built with an unofficial API of Instagram (private).

But it’s can be fixed by adding a handling algorithm for challenge_required exception.

@serj-air Then please let the author of the plugin know how to prevent this unwanted behavior!? I think a solution will result in new code?
