    Hi there,
When enabling Instagram login, step 10 says “Explain how your app uses the Instagram API. You need to explain how users would login using Instagram and their profile data would be displayed at profile page. Provide the url of video screencast showing the same.” A little more help for this would be very appreciated. I basically copied and pasted a little of the description that you provided for the first part, but a screencast? I have no idea what they even mean. How would I go about recording a screencast and for what? For users logging in to the site? I’m assuming this is for developers creating real apps, with demo sites and dummy devices and all that stuff. Since I couldn’t submit without a url, I just put my homepage url, which of course does not have a screencast. How have others dealt with this requirement? The instruction provided is not helpful! It just repeats what Instagram has on the page as if we are supposed to know what to do. I’d be more than happy to shoot a screencast if I even knew what steps I was supposed to record or what it is supposed to look like.
Has anyone else had trouble with this? Were you able to get approved, and if so did you provide a video? Or just a random url? How do you deal with this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Callista,

Sorry, if the instructions are not clear. After configuring the Instagram login (creating Instagram client and saving the Instagram Client ID in the plugin options), you need to record a screencast showing how you click Instagram login icon at your website and how the Instagram login creates a user at your website. You would be able to login using the Instagram account you used to create Instagram client before you get the basic permissions approved for public use of Instagram login.

Thank you. I tried to record something, but since it hasn’t been approved by instagram yet, it doesn’t work properly. Is that a problem? It just creates a regular WordPress user? I’m just using it so users can log in to post comments, not register as a user on the site or be able to log in or anything else.

It doesn’t accept my email address that I used for my Instagram account – it says it’s invalid or already registered. It’s the same email I use for administering my website. So my screencast has me just creating myself as a new WordPress user, not an Instagram user. This is after I get the message that the app is in Sandbox mode. Is it really this complicated for users to comment using Instagram? Has anyone else had problems with this?

Here’s my screencast showing what happens: https://vimeo.com/285752633/a2a963ee7a. Instagram recognizes that I’m logged in as me, and then when it redirects to the website, I have to log in but if I use my IG email address, which is the same as my website admin address, it tells me I’m already registered. So then I have to use a different email address and it creates me as a new WordPress user. Thanks.

Social Login creates a regular WordPress user from the profile details fetched from the user’s social media account. This is how it is supposed to work.

I’m just using it so users can log in to post comments

For a website visitor to be able to comment, our plugin fetches their social profile data, creates a user at your website and log them into their user session at your website so that they can comment.

It doesn’t accept my email address that I used for my Instagram account – it says it’s invalid or already registered

That’s because you are using an already registered email address at your website. To keep things simple, our plugin doesn’t accept an email address that is already registered. You can link your Instagram account using the Social Account Linking interface at your user profile page instead.

Is it really this complicated for users to comment using Instagram? Has anyone else had problems with this?

It’s because Instagram doesn’t provide email address of the user with other basic profile data. You can disable Email required option from the Advanced Configuration section at Super Socializer > Social Login page in admin if you don’t want this “Email required” popup to get triggered. In this case plugin will generate a dummy email address (example – 785878*****@instagram.com) for that user and create their account without asking email.

I have to log in but if I use my IG email address, which is the same as my website admin address, it tells me I’m already registered. So then I have to use a different email address and it creates me as a new WordPress user

You can link your Instagram account using the Social Account Linking interface at your user profile page instead.
P.S.:In the screencast you are creating for Instagram approval, you just need to show how website visitor clicks Instagram login icon and how it registers them at your website with the social profile data visible at user profile page of your website.

Ok, thanks very much for your reply. I understand now. I used the screencast I indicated above in my application to Instagram. It doesn’t have the user profile page in it, but I’m done messing with it, so if they approve me, great, but if not, I guess users can use one of the other options.
    Have a great day!

No problem. They will, probably, tell you what is missing in the screencast if it doesn’t gets approved. Let’s hope it gets approved. I know it’s such a pain ??
Have a great day as well.
