    Hello. I am able to use the button to access Instagram and obtain a token and the IG feed works properly. But when my client signs into his IG account, he gets a message that his account is locked because of suspicious activity (see linked screenshot). He is forced to verify his identity and create a new password. At that point, the feed stops working and the “The access_token provided is invalid” message is displayed. I repeated the process a couple times and the same thing happens. What do you think?

    Hi @sbanner26,

    We are looking into any recent changes regarding the Facebook/Instagram API.

    For now, let’s try this:

    From the Feed Them >Instagram Token page, scroll down and click the green ‘Save All Changes’ button on the bottom left.
    Then go to the Feed Them> Settings page, under the “Create Shortcode” blue box, select “Instagram Feed” from the dropdown menu, then scroll down to the green “Generate Shortcode” box and click it. This should give you your shortcode.

    Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks Slick. I followed those instructions but the same issue exists. The client had already reset his IG password so he could use it so this wouldn’t work anyway without creating a new token, but then he won’t be able to use IG without re-verifying and creating another new password – vicious cycle. Please let me know what I can do to get this straightened out for him. Thanks!

    Hi @sbanner26,

    Instagram has been clamping down on the amount of “calls”. A quick fix used to be that if you ‘forced quit’ the app on your phone, once reopened it would get it back to normal. Not sure that this might still work, but easy and harmless, so possibly worth a try before moving on.

    Let’s try this:

    Try going to your instagram account and then click the settings gear icon so you see the popup of options.

    Now click on the Authorized Apps option.

    Once on the next page click Revoke Access under the Feed Them Social App.

    Now go back to the Instagram Options page in our plugin and click the button to get a new access token.

    Lastly, Try Clearing the cache by clicking to Feed Them tab > Settings > Global Options > Clear cache

    Be sure to clear any other Caching plugins you may have installed also.

    Hi Slick,

    Just wanted to give you an update… so far so good. I was able to re-generate the token with the new password and get the feed back up. I then logged into IG a few times and did not get the verification error. I’ll let you know if anything changes now that the client will be back in town after the holidays and starts posting again.
