    Hello,

For whatever reason, Instagram embeds are no longer showing up on Desktop Safari. They simply say “View The Post On Instagram,” regardless of whether I am logged into WordPress or Instagram, using a Private Browser Window, on a clear cache, etc.

It’s hit or miss on mobile Safari.

This same content shows up flawlessly on all other browsers, however.

I’ve seen a few vague mentions of this problem elsewhere online, but no real solution. Does anyone know what to do?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @thedevplayer
Sorry for the trouble. There could be a few reasons why Instagram embeds are not showing up on Desktop Safari. Here are some potential solutions you can try:

    1. Check the Instagram embed code: Make sure the embed code is formatted correctly and placed in the correct location on your website. If the code is invalid or improperly formatted, the embed may not display correctly.

    2. Clear the cache and cookies: Clearing the cache and cookies on your browser may help resolve the issue. To do this in Safari, go to the Safari menu and select ‘Preferences’, then click the ‘Privacy’ tab. From there, click ‘Manage Website Data’ and select ‘Remove All.’

    3. Disable extensions: If you have any extensions installed on Safari, try disabling them to see if this fixes the issue. To do this, go to the Safari menu and select ‘Preferences’, then click the ‘Extensions’ tab. From there, uncheck the box next to any extensions you want to disable.

    4. Check for updates: Ensure you have the latest version of Safari installed. To check for updates, go to the Apple menu and select ‘System Preferences,’ then click the ‘Software Update’ button.

    5. Check for conflicts with other plugins: If you are using other plugins or scripts on your website, try disabling them to see if they may be causing the issue.

If none of these solutions work, it could be an issue with the Instagram API oh Instagram itself. In that case, you may need to contact Instagram or wait for them to resolve the issue.

    Thanks, both, for the help.

I did try some of the isolation efforts presented by Faisal, but they haven’t worked thus far. Keep in mind that everything is working on other browsers, so it seems unlikely this is an issue with the WordPress install, plugins, etc and more about how the embed code is being rendered by Safari.

Currently looking at the Appletoolbox advice shared by t-p; thus far, I’m seeing some progress after re-emptying the cache. However, I’ve done this before to no avail – so will keep my eyes open to make sure the issue doesn’t recur.
