Instagram automatic embeds in editor not working

Hi,

I’ve tried this on a number of different sites, and it seems that since December 1st whenever I enter an instagram link into the editor it no longer automatically changes the link to the instagram card.

Checking the network panel I see:

{"success":false,"data":{"type":"not-embeddable","message":"<code>https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/[INSTAGRAMID]\/<\/code> failed to embed."}}

What’s strange is that posts created before December 1st will actually show the card properly, and when I post an Instagram link that is properly displaying in a pre-December 1st post, it still gives me this error. I’ve tried on a number of different sites, and I can’t figure out why this is happening.

I’m going to look into the core functions that are run if I get some time today, but for now I thought I’d just post this here to see if anyone knows of a reason/fix.
