Inserting small .jpg images into sidebar widget?

  • Currently, in order to get a jpg image into my text sidebar, I upload the image into Photobucket and then get the html code for the image…and simply load that directly into the text widget.

    But….can’t I somehow host the image in my media library and somehow get it to appear in the text sidebar? Is there a piece of code for this?

    1. What I’d like to do is put in a couple lines of text along with the image.

    2. Last question….can I make the image clickable to go to another URL? (like another page?).

    It’s my 4th week in WordPress and I am grateful for whatever support I can get.

    Not for just ad hoc images. The Add Media interface only allows you to publish images in posts or pages – not sidebars. I suppose it would be possible to designate a specific page as a ‘side bar image holder’, insert images into that page and then edit the sidebar to call that page but it would be rather fiddly.

    What you’re doing now with the Text widget seems to be the simplest and easiest option. You should be able to add text under your images by simply inserting a line-break (<br />) after your image url and then typing in your text. Exactly how that will look on the site will depend upon the theme you’re using.

    If you want an image to act as a link, you could also insert the link markup in the Text widget but you might want to look at using images with your WP links instead. Admin/Links/Add New. Scroll right down the page and you’ll see a box for Image Address under the Advanced tab.
