Inserting several images : problem with link

  • When trying to insert several images from my gallery into an article, only the first and last inserted image has a link to the full sized image.

    In short, here is what I get :

    <a href='...'><img ... /></a> <img ... /> <a href='...'><img ... /></a>

    instead of

    <a href='...'><img ... /></a> <a href='...'><img ... /></a> <a href='...'><img ... /></a>

    Could it be related to the gallery and not to the wordpress version because I have another wordpress website, using also 3.9.1 which doesn’t have this problem.

  • How are you inserting this gallery? Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    I switched to the Twnety Fourteen theme (I’m normally using the good old “WordPress Default” and deactivated all plugins.

    I edit an article (empty) and click on “Add a media” (or is it “Insert a media” in english ? I’m using the french version).

    A window with my images gallery pops up. I click the first image, press the shift key, click the last image : several images are selected. I then clic on “insert into article”.

    Images do appear, but only the first one and last one has a link to the original image.

    I then clic on “insert into article”.

    You seem to have missed a step – clicking on “Create gallery”.

    I don’t want to create a gallery. I want to insert my images into the text and mix them with text.

    Try inserting the image one at a time instead of a huge block. Each time, ensure that “Link To” under “Attachment Settings” is set to “Media File”.

    When inserting images one at a time or two at a time, it works.

    But I need to insert about 100 images in my article and it will be a pain to insert one by one, especially that inserting many images at once used to work fine !!
