Inserting link in first paragraph highlights everything

It looks like that is being caused by the sharaholic like plugin – it seems to be inserting code in the wrong place — look at the rendered HTML for that page:

For some reason every time I link anything in the first paragraph, it highlights everything before it in orange and no one can tell me why.  Could anyone please help and tell me what it could be?  I am just typing and blabbing to add some content and I am linking </a>

If it’s a plugin – try deactivating it? And maybe reinstalling it. Otherwise, yes, you’d need to ask them…
