• I’m using the latest version of WordPress as of December 06, 2018. Sadly, I upgraded on that date. I must state that I hate the new editor. I find it completely non intuitive and not as simple to use as the old one. Please give us the option to use the old editor. Anyway here’s the problem:

I set the cursor to where I want to insert an image. However, the image always ends up in the top left corner of my document.

Prefer to stick with the familiar Classic Editor? No problem! The Classic Editor plugin restores the previous WordPress editor and the Edit Post screen. It lets you keep using plugins that extend it, add old-style meta boxes, or otherwise depend on the previous editor. To install, visit your plugins page and click the “Install Now” button next to “Classic Editor”. After the plugin finishes installing, click “Activate”. That’s it!

Known issue since 11.October 2018, moved from milestone to milestone and classified as noblocker.

    Thank you for the info.

This seems like a major issue. Why would they release this editor knowing this bug existed. I can’t believe they didn’t test the functionality of adding media to a document. I’m more than happy with the classic editor plugin. Maybe they should rename the plugin to “The working editor”. I really think the new editor should have been an optional plugin and not a basic part of WordPress. The new editor is far too complex and non-intuitive.
