• After I upgraded my website to 3.6, the insert/edit link buttons both in the text and vidual editors no longer work. Clicking them does nothing whether text is selected or not. No dialog pops up. In the javascript console I see the following errors:

caught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method ‘wpdialog’ scripts?load=hoverIntent;common;admin-bar;jquery-ui-position;wp-pointer;jqu…-ui-dialog;wpdialogs;wplink;wpdialogs-popup;wp-fullscreen;media-upload:321

Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method ‘wpdialog’

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

No I haven’t. Was hoping someone might have an answer for me so I wouldn’t have to basically break my site to fix the insert/edit link button…

That is the answer :). Any number of things can cause problems so start by deactivating your plugins and switching to the default theme.
