    I’ve been using this excellent plugin for several months now, and never had this problem before. I should say I’ve never *noticed* it before…

    I looked at my home page just now, and saw that a particularly cunning use of the plugin wasn’t working. The inserted page simply wasn’t visible. I checked everything I could think of, but couldn’t see what I’d done wrong. But when I went back to the home page, the inserted page was working just fine!

    It was then I realised that the difference was I’d been logged out before.

    I’ve checked my other pages, and DISASTER! None of the inserted pages are visible anywhere if I’m not logged in. And this is far and away my most-used plugin… I have inserted pages everywhere!

    I think if this had been going on ever since I installed the plugin then someone would have pointed out that my site is mostly white space. So I’ve a feeling it’s down to the fact that I brought my WordPress version up to date just yesterday.

    Is it possible/likely that updating WordPress is the cause? If so, this plugin is so vital to me that I’ll roll back the WP installation like a shot!

    Any thoughts or advice would be most welcome!

    I’ve got the plugin running on multiple sites all running the latest version of WordPress, with no problems (logged in or anonymous). Any other details on your setup? Can you see any errors in the server logs?

    Hi Paul – thanks for getting back to me.

    I just did some error log checks after each step of the following sequence, but got nothing.
    1. Plugin started out deactivated.
    2. Activated plugin.
    3. Published a new page with an insertion in.
    4. Viewed that page while logged in. (Insertion visible.)
    5. Viewed that page while logged out. (Insertion not visible.)

    The only thing of note I could think of to tell you about is that yesterday I tried to upgrade our PHP from 5.2 to 7.0. It made a couple of our plugins fall over, so I rolled back to 5.2 till I’ve found alternatives.

    So I did what I suppose I should have done to start with: Deactivate recently added plugins one at a time to see when/if Insert Pages started working as expected.

    Well, the good news is I identified a recently added plugin that’s apparently conflicting with Insert Pages. The better news is that it started with a B, so I didn’t have to deactivate many plugins to identify the culprit. So I’m happy – Insert Pages is BACK on my site!!!

    The bad news, I guess, from your point of view, is that the conflicting plugin is… bbPress, which I gather is rather a giant among plugins, with many many users. It’s a worrying thought… how many of its 300,000 users are using Insert Pages happily unaware of the issue. The take-away lesson I’ve got from this is always log out to test my pages – it honestly never occurred to me before that a casual visitor could see something other than I can in page preview. Hey-ho, I live and learn.

    I hope this has been useful to you and that releasing an update is something you fancy doing.

    As I said before, your plugin really is very useful to me and I don’t want to do without it. In other words, it’s bye-bye bbPress for me. There are loads of alternative forum plugins, but your would appear to be unique.

    Keep up the good work!

    Cool, thanks for doing the legwork! I’ll see if I can replicate the problems with bbPress and try to track down a solution.

    I’ll be interested in whether you can replicate it or whether perhaps there’s a THIRD plugin on my site which somehow provokes the spat between Insert Pages and bbPress.

    Hi,
    same problem here (insert pages works only for logged ppl)
    I’ve deactiveted the bbpress plugin and insert page works now fine….

    I wasn’t able to reproduce the problem with just Insert Pages and bbPress installed, using the default settings. Maybe it’s a specific configuration that causes problems?

    Can you maybe give me some details to recreate your exact setup, like:
    * What type of post is inserted;
    * What type of post the former is inserted on;
    * Any custom settings for bbPress;
    * Whether there are any forum topics with the same slug as the inserted post(s).
