Today, I suddenly noticed that, after the page stops loading, inserted images no longer enlarge when clicked.

The hand icon apears when I move the mouse over the image and at the bottom of the screen, it shows the correct link. If I right click, I can open the image or link in a new tab. But nothing happens when I click with the default/left button.

The image files are correctly set to link to media file. And I went back to old posts that had images that worked correctly in the past. They now have the same problem.

As was the case before this issue popped up – If you click on the image while the page is still loading, it opens the image media file with a black background. To return to the post, you have to navigate back.

Previously, when the page was done loading, clicking on a thumbnail or medium/large inserted pic would enlarge the photo with the post in the background. If there were multiple images, side arrows would let you click to the next or previous image. That is no longer happening.

I’m not sure if this is new today or a few days old and I just hadn’t noticed. I couldn’t find any comment streams that seemed relevant to my issue. I haven’t migrated to a new host recently. (

I did make some plugin changes the other day. (I had deactivated – “WordPress Importer” and “Add from Server” and installed “rename WP-login.php”.) None seem related to me. But I tried reactivating the deactivated ones and deactivating the new one just in case. It didn’t make a difference.

I included the page above where I first noticed the problem today. But it’s really on any post that has an inserted image.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Specifically on this page, I am referring to the inserted flyer within the body of the post.

It looks like you have a plugin called Stimuli that is supposed to do the lightbox effect on the images. The HTML is in the page, but there is no script. If you made a change to this, change it back, or ask at the plugin’s support forum.

Thank you for looking at this.

I don’t have a plugin called Stimuli. So, I am concerned that you are seeing that I do – especially if there is code related to it causing the issue.

I take it from your response that the effect that I used to see when the image was clicked is the “lightbox effect”. I had no clue. (I didn’t design my blog. I took it over years ago from someone who had already designed it. So, I’m fairly wordpress illiterate.)

I have a plugin called Lightbox 2. I thought it was related to old photo galleries. Now, I assume that it must be the plugin having issues. So that points me in the right direction for further research.

Well – it looks like you are right. I just hit the “Visit plugin site” link under the plugin Lightbox 2 and it led to: https://www.stimuli.ca/lightbox

That page has a 404 error message “Page not found”. Not a good sign for plugin support!

    Joy,

Thank you again. Because your comment pointed me to the lightbox plugin being broken, I installed a new plugin. It seems to be working OK. Still having some small issues figuring out the right settings for my needs – but images are no longer unclickable.
