Insert the shortcodes in template

Hi,

Is there anyway I can insert the shortcodes in my WP template files (not in the content section, but hardcode the shortcode into the template file itself)?

I tried <?php echo do_shortcode(“[shortcode]”); ?> but that does not work properly.
