Insert Shortcode button does nothing – where can I find shortcode code samples?

Hello,
The plugin installed and the Insert Shortcode button appears in the editor.
When I click the Insert Shortcode button I get the popup with the many shortcodes I can chose from.
But once I select a shortcode, chose my options, see the preview–once I click the Insert Shortcode button–nothing happens.
No shortcode is inserted into the page.
Where can I find a page of examples of all the shortcodes so I can copy and paste them so I can use the plugin?
And how can I get this wonderful plugin to work?
