Insert plugin in theme

Well that JJnextGen is exactly what i need, however where are the settings to assign that plugin to the header?

I don’t know the plugin, but it sounds like an addition to the Next Gen Gallery plugin. Have you checked the installation instructions?

Yes but it only mentions shortcode and widgets? The shortcodes are similair to Joomla plugins. What are these widgets about?

Widgets are things you can usually only put into the sidebar (appearance->widgets). There ARE themes that allow widgets in the header, but not too many, as far as I know.
You can’t work with a shortcode in the header.php?

You can add shortcodes directly in the header.php or any other theme template file by using the function do_shortcode():
