    Hello,

I’m trying to configure my WordPress for my website. I’m catching on with the Codex help thingy and reading other forum posts so far, but I can’t find something for this.

When I go to write a post, I want there to be a drop down menu somewhere on the page where I can select an image from a list of already uploaded images. Then, I’d like it to appear beside my post.

I was able to do it on my other website, https://www.pfcritics.com, but I used a different program for that.

I can figure out how to make the image appear next to the post myself, but I need help on how to select the image while writing a post. The image acts as a “preview” basically.

    Thanks
    -Chris Pokorny

P.S…if needed, the site this is for is purelywrestling.com

  • Did you try Photopress or Exhibit? I think they have such functionality.

Image support in WordPress is sketchy right now, but if you only want to tag your posts with images, you should be OK. If you want something more amibitious, like a thumbnail gallery, you are to an extent on your own (“your own” being defined as the group of the rest of us who are quietly working on stuff like that).

I found out a way to do what I wanted!

First I downloaded the Custom Field GUI plugin so that I could create my own entries for a drop-down menu.

Then I downloaded Get Custom Field Values so that I could use the custom field inside a specific category designed page.

    And…voila: https://www.purelywrestling.com/

You’ll see that the RAW logo is small beside the post on the left. I also set it up so when you click the link for that post, there is a large image of the same picture on the following page.

The only negatives are that I have to upload all of the images to the directory by FTP and that I have to manually type in the image file names for the drop-down menus, but it’ll definitely serve its purpose.
