• Hi guys,

    Like the title says, but:

I followed procedure and now i’m 99% sure i must have messed up the theme somehow by touching the files.

I needed to touch the files to get rid or change parts of the theme but in doing so it looks like i messed up the “insert/edit link” button.
Not only that, if i manage to write the link myself or work around that, when i click update, i see the link on the editor but it does not appear on the website.

If i change the theme…BAM! all the links works just fine again, but of course the new theme messes up my entire design….

Could you please help me figure out where i messed up ?

    Here is the website:

    Thank you !!!

yeah, i did it through the plugin called “Font”.

I tried deactivating it, but still, no changes…

that one doesn’t necessarily need deactivating, i was just suggesting correcting the css ?? sorry!

so it works when you change themes

do i remember correctly that the other day you said you changed header.php? also have there been any changes to the themes javascript files?

yes i did made some changes in header.php.

I don’t think there has been any changes in the theme javascript files.
    I know i didn’t and wouldn’t touch the js files…

i’m really just guessing at this point bud, i wish i had something concrete

    i would do this next

-copy the clean theme files to a newly named (themenameTEST) folder on local computer
-ftp new theme folder up to wp-content/themes/
-activate newly uploaded clean version of theme
    -test insert/edit link button

if it still doesnt work, then you know it’s theme related

if it DOES work, then we know it’s related to your changes

for your own benefit down the road i do suggest you check out the docs on child-themes as they would help you through things like this rather than modifying theme files

I did it and apparently it’s the theme that’s messed up somewhere.

I can see my changes reverted, but the button still doesn’t work…

ok, then i’d say reach out to the theme devs as i feel tapped out of ideas. sorry bud :-/

ahahah thanks for all the help man.

I did reached to them but so far, no answers.

One more thing, all this mess with the insert link button is only for my friend to be able to create links without having to know HTML.
If i switch to text editor, and input the a tag manually, then the links it works fine.

Do you know of a plugin or something that do not use the insert link button but let me easily create a link ?
To transform images into links it’s still doable i make my friend do it through the image properties but it’s for text that’s going to be tricky for her.

Anyway thanks a bunch for your help man, you’ve been really helpful !

thats a darn good idea you have

try out tinymce advanced for that

    Hi there.

My first post and I think I have the same problem, too. But I have to say, with Firefox all works fine and the problem only exists with Internet Explorer 11. With IE11 nothing happens if I click “Create Link” in the visual editor.
