Insert date and user in a field

I wonder if it is possible that the “insert” form add the date in a field of the database (date column already exists) automatically get the same local time – “Today”. A similar use I would also like to know if it is possible that in another field in the table store the current user you are adding, modifying, searching the database (and this user should be logged in). It is important to say that I would like to place these fields automatically and not written by hand … I guess it should be something like this ….
