• Hi Guys,

I’m new to building a site. I’ve tried installing wordpress via fantastico via my host using the auto install option (ive watched a heap of youube videos explaining how to do this).

I believe i have installed it correctly, it has setup my SQL database and also a user with all priviledges (i think correctly).

    After install when it gives me the link (yourdomain.com.au/wp-admin/) to access wordpress login, when i open link i get diverted to;
    https://www.wp-admin.com/

Dont know what im doing wrong. ive tried uninstalling wordpress via fantastico and re-installing but nothing works

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • I would delete the installation and re-install WordPress. I’ve used Fantastico countless times and it works quite well. Do you have a URL we can visit to see whats going on? It sounds like there’s something in the .htaccess file thats causing a re-direct.

    Hi Tim,

I’ve tried deleting the installation and re-installing numerous times as well as trying to load it in a sub-folder.

Something really strange happened last night I tried https://grownnmown.com.au/wp-login instead of wp-admin and I got to the login page only problem being that I logged in using my username and password only to be logged into someone else’s account! I was able to change things on someone else’s site! I didn’t realize I was changing someone’s site so I undid all my changes to there site and logged out!!!

    Arrrgggghhhhh

You need to contact your hosting provider. This seems to be a DNS routing issue with the server. Contact them and see what they say. I tried to visit the link you provided to no avail.

Will do Tim thanks for your help

    Hi!
I’ve never set up a website before, so I’m also having trouble. I’ve downloaded WordPress and saved the wp-config.php. I’m not sure how to create a database for WordPress on my web server and MySQL user. I’m also wondering if it is possible to create a blog or website without a hosting provider?
It would be much appreciated for any help!

    Jaol,

you can install a local wordpress and play with it.

for howtos, you could google “install local wordpress”

    jianbo,

Thanks for the help, you’re a life saver!

As others have said, you can install WordPress locally by using a LAMP or WAMP stack on your local machine. However, this will not resolve the issue. You still need to create a database and user. If you are unfamiliar with creating a database, try contacting your hosting provider for more information.

    Thanks Tim and everyone!
I was able to create my website with all your help!
