input:valid not working correctly with required fields?

Hi,
I have a couple of fields (text/email) that are required. I have added some input:valid css to them. The problem is that the css gets applied from the start, before I have even written anything in the fields. Since the fields are required they shouldn’t get this CSS before they are…yeah…valid.
Is there any way to fix this? Do you have any “valid” css class?
