Inner Workings of WordPress

  • This is either a really stupid question or a really complicated one.

    Today I was trying to edit a post in WordPress. I was not able to do that because I immediately got an internal service error from the host. When I got support, they fixed it. Asking about what might have caused it (initially I was told I had to figure that out myself–that wasn’t support’s problem) I was told by the second tech that WordPress changes the .htaccess file each time you do anything in the wordpress admin.

    I understand that WP grabs stuff from mysql, but I don’t understand .htaccess enough to understand why WP is changing that? Is there a place I can learn more about this? Or was this tech blowing me off as well?
