Inline formulas do not work

Hello,

I tried to insert a formula inline in a paragraph in the WordPress block editor. Unfortunately no formatting is applied here in the frontend. It seems like a script should take effect here, but it does not. The console does not show any errors.

With JS turned on in the browser, I get the following output in the dom:

<mathml>\( f(x) = \sum_{i=0}^{n} \frac{a_i}{1+x} )</mathml>
