Initial Slow Load, then fast…

My site (https://pronematch.com) takes about 10 seconds for the site to visually start loading non-cached pages. The browser says “Waiting for pronematch.com” during this time. I use the plugin W3 Total Cache so once a page has been cached is loads very fast (great plugin).

I’m wondering if anyone might know why it takes so long to load the page initially? My hosting is media temple and I think they are quite good.
