Information Architecture/Design Question
-
Greetings,
I just installed word press a few days ago, so please forgive my ignorance. I’m looking to design a cyberpunk movie review site, but I have a problem. I already have the bulk of the movie reviews written, and really don’t want the navigation to be a date structured blog-type interface. I’m looking to create an integrated knowledge asset that allows growth and collaboration.
I want to organize the reviews into a number of different categories, including: By decade, by movie type (anime, large scale production, crappy “B” movies, etc.), cyberpunk theme (andriods, AI, VR movies, etc.), and quality. I also have some other organization ideas in mind, like having a post of my top 50 favorite cyberpunk movies (there’s about 80 in all).
I have my planned organization here:
https://www.cyberpunkreview.com/planned-organization.htmI’ve very interested in allowing comments on each review, and eventually would like to expand the content into fiction books, science related topics like co-evolution theory (co-evolution of man and his tools), etc. If I’m successful, I also envision others being interested in joining me in doing this.
My question is can I set up the front of word press to support this type of navigation structure? If so, would I be making me reviews as pages or blog entries? Also, I’m guessing I’d need a static area near the top of my site that doesn’t change – do I do this in the header or is there another template file I use?
The categories seem to work (I already have 28 entered). I’m anticipating that each movie review would have “category” links that would take me to a page that has all cyberpunk movies made in the 1980s, for instance. So really, I envision having a static area on the main page, and a number of “linking” category pages, and then movie reviews.
Bottom line, does any of this make sense, or is wordpress the wrong tool for this?
Thanks in advance!
