Infinite scroll like twentyfourteen

Is it possible to set up the pagination the same as the wordpress twentyfourteen theme. Where there is an older posts link, and once clicked, the posts load below the above posts, same as how infinite scroll works but to click first rather than auto load.

I think I may need to install a plugin to get that to work, I used to use infinite scroll plugin that auto loads posts. But the only problem with this is you don’t have time to look at the sidebars when they drop to the bottom for smaller screen sizes, so I prefer it like twenty fourteen where you click first to load the posts.

I use different themes on a multisite, so will I need specific code for each theme, or is this type of infinite scroll built into wordpress ready to activate by adding some code in an mu-plugin.
