• Hi, I recently setup a website using WP, https://www.slovakcooking.com. I am using the HeatMap theme (this may not be relevant). I would like to organize the site such that I have 2 main pages, “recipes” and “language lessons”. Then, each page would show posts only in the appropriate category. Also, my theme shows the top level categories underneath the list of pages. I would like these to correspond to the page, so that if a visitor is under “recipes”, the categories show stuff like “soups, salads, etc…” but under language they may be “grammar, vocabulary, …”. Is this even possible? If yes, can you direct me in the right direction? I am totally new to programming in WP, but I have some PHP experience. Thank you very much!

  • Try setting up 2 top level categories called “recipes” and “language lessons”. Then create sub-categories (“soups, salads, etc…”) under each of these and file your posts accordingly.

I am already doing this, but it doesn’t seem to work. But thanks anyway!

what esami wrote you is correct. you need to follow that .
However , it is not all, If I understood your request correctly , because you will need also to change the wp_list_categories() function, and exlude what you want on each of the pages (I would reccomand using custom pages , that will enable you different design)

Hello, I am looking for this to work with subdomains. Is there a problem that keeps that from happening? I have tried but “example.website.com” will not record clicks, but “www.website.com” will.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
