    Hey guys,

im not the guy who is asking other people how something works ..
But lately im really clueless about some thing.

I am using the “WordPress plugin”: Easy Table of Contents.
You have there 4 options for the position it but thats not really helpful.

I tried to change the position with the plugin: Site Origin CSS
But by Absolute, Static, etc. i was able to change the position but it didnt open up anymore (seems like he just shifted the text and not the function). Also he made the changes on every site (i need individual position on every site)

Sending pics is kinda hard at the moment. But maybe do you have any solution to fight vs that problem? Are there some sites which can help me by putting the plugin into the right position?

I′m really struggling with it since weeks ..
If i dont find any solution i have to write the contents 1 by 1 and link it via anker.

    Thx!

    Hey Andrew!

    Thx for your quick answer.

Is it possible if i can send you it via mail or something?
I dont want the site public here if thats ok.

    Thx!

    Sure ??

This is a public forum, the idea is we can all learn from the topics posted here. Email support is a big part of our SiteOrigin Premium offering, that’s something you could perhaps consider. On our forum and here on the .org forums, the expectation is that it’s public.

If you’re looking to change a position aspect of the Easy Table of Contents plugin, it’s worth reaching out to the authors of that plugin to see if they can assist.

    Hey Andrew,

you are right – my mistake.
Then I let you guys know it with some black changes.

Thats the first you see, if u visit my site. The contents is between my header and subheaders the place it should not be.
    https://www.directupload.net/file/d/5427/neu36i69_jpg.htm

I changed the position a little (margin)
    https://www.directupload.net/file/d/5427/ddjaqmyi_jpg.htm

In this case there are no problems – but I want the contents on a specific position (by margin he stretch it which looks pretty bad by 2200 px changes). If I try that it looks like that:

    targetting it:
    https://www.directupload.net/file/d/5427/ubirk8mt_jpg.htm

position where it stand after 2200 px
    https://www.directupload.net/file/d/5427/csstsgfn_jpg.htm

As you can see its on the position I want it to be. The problem: The exactly layout is on every site + it doesnt work if I want to open the menu (by margin it did). It feels like it just shifted the text but not the function. I hope its understandable since english is not my main language.

Here are some settings from Easy Table of Contents:

    https://www.directupload.net/file/d/5427/spcty76u_jpg.htm

As you can see I max can change the layout in 4 positions. I tried to reach the developers but I dont get any respond since days ..

Maybe you guys can help me it really seems simple but for me it would solve a huge problem ..

    Thx!

    Thanks

From the perspective of SiteOrigin CSS you can try the following:

    Go to Layout, select the element and then set the element to be Position: Absolute. Then just below that setting, use the Absolute Position setting to set the pixels. Only select two of the controls, you can either use top or bottom and left or right. An example of an absolute positioned element might be Top: 20px, right: 20px;

    See: https://imgur.com/a/n6ljva4

To keep an absolute positioned element in place, ideally the parent element must have position: relative;.

SiteOrigin CSS does cross over into needing a basic understanding of CSS as you can see from the above.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much more I can help with than what I’ve covered. Ideally, the plugin developers would advise on how to change the output point of the plugin. If they can’t, you could consider using a service like Codeable.io to hire a developer to assist you with this task, that’s an option.

    Hey Andrew,

thanks for your quick support today. Thats something i really appreciate!

Its abit weird because if I try like 450 px Absolute from above I can open it. But by 2150 px or smthg it doesnt work anymore. Since I dont get any information from the developer of the plugin I uninstalled it.

I will look for something else.

    But thanks for your help!

    Regards

    Sure ??

Without seeing the layout live, it’s hard to say what’s happening. It’s important to set the container to position: relative, otherwise your element will be absolutely positioned to the body of the page and not the container it’s in.

Sometimes, it’s easier to stop working a problem and look for an alternative. Hope you find one that suits your project.

    Cheers for now.
