The site in question is installed on university hosting, and up until a server move worked just fine. (I worked with hosting to resolve this problem all last week but they couldn’t determine the problem.) I even downgraded from 3.0 to 2.9.2, wiping everything and starting with a clean install.

All of their .org sites were moved onto their own server, off the server running the database. This shouldn’t have affected anything, but the site hasn’t worked right since. Pages work but posts don’t, and the index page serves as the posting (blog) page, so the problem lies here I think.

Here’s the site in question (still in development, but should have gone live a week ago so I’m sorta desperate!): https://www.msa.org.vt.edu

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • These may be questions you’ve checked a dozen times, but just in case …

In the Admin Panel > Settings > Reading
Do you have a “static front page” set?
If so, does it point to a page that’s still “there”?

If you aren’t using the “static front page” feature, maybe a workaround would be to create a new page (tied to the template you want to use) and then set that as your home page?

All the best — looks like a great site!

Old post, but wanted to post the update in case anyone has the same issue. The problem was with the server and there was nothing I could do about it! It was resolved by the server owner (in this case the university). The problem not only affected my clients’ site, but all WordPress sites run on the same server. They never would divulge what the issue was but it got fixed.

I’m glad this got fixed. Thanks for posting the update.
