• The site in question is https://www.cisbl.org.

OK, I do understand that I will likely be advised to upgrade from 2.5.1, and I was actually just logging into this site to do that, but was confronted with an error when loading the site. The error stated that there was an unexpected ‘}’ on line 420 of the index.php file. When I opened the file to take a look, I was shocked to see all these completely different links and code I did not write.

Have I been hijacked? If I have been hijacked, what do I need to do now to fix it? Should I delete everything and try again? This was an install of WP for a client who hasn’t done much to his site and is only now interested in getting it up. Have they hijacked the whole site/server, or just the database?

The index file has been renamed to ‘index-problem.php’ in the root directory if anyone wants to take a look. I appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

    Isnt that an obvious conclusion?

    so start the site over.

where have you demonstrated that the mysql database has been compromised? You mention a file. thats not a database. thats a file. if you want to determine the integrity of the content in the database, you need to read through the threads I already linked to, and follow the instructions within them that explain some of the more common things seen inside the databases of hacked sites.

I have to ask, respectfully, why? A hacked wordpress 2.5.1 site isnt a mystery. There’s no real benefit to looking at the file for anyone here.

whatever is inside the file is the result of an exploit. its not the exploit itself. Nothing to be seen there that cant be found via a google search.
