• My issue has to do with how my site is being indexed by google. I have just started a wordpress site with this being my first time using wordpress. I was checking google to see how my indexing was going and to my surprise I saw this: all-about-depression.host22.com/page/2 when really this page should be: https://all-about-depression.host22.com/depression-medication-side-effects.html

I set up the permalink to show it with the postname and .html

This is very disapointing because I’m assuming now there is going to be a duplicate content issue and is causing me problems. How do I fix this? how do I stop google from indexing (page/number) or recognizing it as a link. Why is it doing that or better yet how is it doing that and actually pointing to a page? Also I have adsense set up to show ads in a certain way for the home page and differently for post pages and when following the (page/number) link it shows as if it were the home page.

Any help in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

It’s not a duplicate content issue.

Now that you have permalinks; those page/2/ does not exist anymore so you do not have dup content

Ok I hate posting links to my blog but I need to show what is happening.

1.) those links do very much exist and work – I started the blog off the door with permalinks. I have no idea where page/whatever number came from but Google has indexed it and actually will not index the permalink with the url I want leaving very messed up and no keywords indexed.

2.) I have not made much for changes to the blog except a theme and the permalinks.

    3. This has to be fixed or I have to scratch using wordpress because it is doing a major disservice and obviously I cannot run my adsense with any hopes of making money.

4.) Ok The first thing I noticed is I have the home page set to show posts and only 1 post. The home page in my theme shows adsense ads diferently than actual post pages. Here is the importance to that. When clicking the link( page/whatever number) that google has indexed points and takes you to each post according to the page number but when you get there it shows the adsense like the home page does.

    5. Here are the links so you can see what I mean:

    Home Pagehttps://all-about-depression.host22.com
Title: All About Depression – an insight to depression
    Home Pagehttps://all-about-depression.host22.com/page/1
Title: All About Depression – An insight to depression

    Define Depression posthttps://all-about-depression.host22.com/define-depression.html
    Title: Define Depression
    Define Depressionhttps://all-about-depression.host22.com/page/6
Title: All About Depression – An insight to depression

So there are a total of six pages – Google actually indexed (Define Depression) but that is it all the other pages are being indexed like this: https://all-about-depression.host22.com/page/6
Title: All About Depression – An insight to depression
And notice it is page indexing the home page for each post.

Can I go into the database and remove them? I’m confused but it has Got to be fixed and gotten rid of.

Any help would be much appreciated – And thank you to all that have answered so far.
