    Hello all,

I’m posting this in hopes that someone out there has had this similar problems and can at least point me in the right direction to a solution.

About 36 hours ago, my site Horror-101.com underwent some sort of error and all links on the index.php lead to nowhere. Everytime you click on any link, whether to a post, or something on the sidebar, it leads to a ‘page not found’ page.

The database for the site is still there.. and all posts seem to be there. I backed up the database yesterday in any case. But there seems to be something broken on the php and the links just aren’t working.

I spoke to my webhost tonight and the customer service rep said that something went wrong with their recent php upgrade recently, and that someone would be in touch with me about the issue.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime? I upgraded to WordPress 2.3.2 yesterday, backed up the database, turned off all plugins.. the only thing I’ve not done is strip off the theme of the site.

I’ll post back here if I get any answer from the webhost admin, but if anyone has had a similar problem, I would like to hear how you got it resolved.

  • It appears to be an issue with the permalink structure.

I personally have never seen a permalink for WordPress that looks like “https://horror-101.com/index.php/?p=363

What I’m expecting to see there is “https://horror-101.com/?p=363” instead. In fact – if I remove that “index.php/” the link works fine.

What does your permalink structure currently call for?

And what are the 2 URI values in admin > Options > General?

However, I think the main issue is: the customer service rep said that something went wrong with their recent php upgrade recently – which means you cannot really do anything.

Thanks for the replies, guys. It turns out that WildBil2Me’s observation was right on.. and I fixed the issue. Although the webhost had upgraded their php recently, they looked into it, tested the site, and found that our site was the only one acting up this way.

WildBil2Me is correct–the permalink structure was borked. I went under the General Options of our site, and I saw that our blog address had the following entry:

    https://www.horror-101.com/index.php”

This was causing the incorrect ‘dead’ urls, as WildBil observed. I erased the “/index.php” portion out of our blog address so as to read “https://www.horror-101.com”…. and the site is back up fine! All our articles and archives are fully readable and all links are working fine!

The issue had been caused all this time by an incorrect setting for the blog under the Blog address setting. Such a simple fix for such a monumental headache! But we learned… we learned!

This issue has been resolved.. Thanks for pointing me out in the right direction, Wildbil2me.

    Sincerely,
    Armando
